The BiharBoard of Open Schooling is an autonomous board that operates under the aegis of the Open Schooling Indian Government's Education Department and is registered under government rules. The goal of establishing this board is to provide open and distance learning opportunities to all students who have dropped out of school due to unforeseen circumstances or who want to resume their studies after a long break.

The Bihar Board Open Schooling system's main goal is to provide primary, secondary, and senior secondary education, as well as vocational and life skill education, to a diverse group of students, including school dropouts, women, backward rural people, working men, and women, differently or specially enabled students, and so on. This board focuses on economically and socially marginalized and depressed students without regard to caste, color, religion, or language, and encourages them to enroll in courses that they prefer to learn.
